SSESA Lonavla Picnic 2011

SSESA Lonavla Picnic 2011

All said and done it wouldn’t have been possible to have such an enjoyable time without the coooperation of everyone who came with us and participated whole-heartedly.

We must appreciate Fr Francis D’mello SJ whose guidance was a crucial factor, the brothers Jeffery & Joel who were ever helpful, the Staff led by Giles & Benji for their tolerance and Capt Mel Pais who conducted a recce of the flora & fauna around the villa & sponsored a prize too.

In a very great measure to all the youngsters who gave of themselves so wholeheartedly to ensure we had a great time goes the ultimate credit. We need them to ensure that events such as these enhance SSESAs value at ground zero.

Probably the one thing that stood out for me was every single one at the picnic participating in the singing of our School Anthem word by word. The cachophony was something to die for.

I am posting here a quiz coined from info available on the SESSA & St Stanislaus’ HS websites which brings out many interesting facets of our Alma Mater. Some of the posts were debated against at the picnic. Maybe we could help and clear things up. Here we go … have fun.

In another two years it will be six decades since I left St Stanislaus High School for good. As I stood with my box and bedding in the shed as we called that large space downstairs, I bid farewell to other boarders who passed by me.  In retrospect, I was both sad and glad. This…

A few observations from around the globe on teachers & teaching I found interesting;  I never did very well in math. I could never seem to persuade the teacher that I hadn’t meant my answers literally. [Calvin Trillin] I like a teacher who gives you something to take home to think about besides homework. [Lily…

  • Some Things we did

On some Sundays the Prefect would announce that we would be going to Lands End for an outing. We knew what it meant, so we had old jam bottles ready. Then we treked in orderly lines in pairs on Hill Road towards St Andrews Church and along the sea face to Lands End. Once there…

  • Names

More names keep popping in my head. There was Thomas Marshal, who I know became a really good commercial artist. Then there was Reggie, who I thought looked always very sleepy. There were the brothers Sabu and Franklin. Both were hansome, one was short and stocky and the other was thin and taller. Now come…
