Wireless Broadband at St. Stanislaus

I spent a lot of time yesterday afternoon at St. Stanislaus with the guys from Tata Communications who have setup wireless broadband (for the mela) for part of our school campus (shed and middle ground). There was the last minute hustle and bustle preparing for the "Yuva Vividha" mela that happens at the school campus from today.

I eventually ended up going home after midnight as the Tata Communications guys sorted out the wireless network. What was really cool was being in the middle of the middle ground at midnight surfing the internet and this very site.

Get your laptops and drop in at the school today.

It would be really great if we can setup such a wireless broadband network for the school and its students .It will change the way education is imparted at St. Stanislaus.

Lovely People-Elco Market

Shopping at Hill Road is never complete without a visit to Elco Market and Elco Pani Puri.

Did you know that a Stanislite owns a business in Elco market. Yes Ashok Punjwani my dear friend and batchmate (Junior College Class of 1979) owns Lovely People in Elco market. Of course the clothes will only be of interest to the ladies and the cross dressers amongst us. Askok gave my little sis, also a Stanislite very good prices for some very nice clothes. Just let him know you are a Stanislite.

Blood Donor Database

Duston D'souza took bad once again this morning. He has an infection and his platelet count dropped necessitating an urgent transfusion of blood. Once again I sent out SMS's and we got an immediate response.

My buddy Denver immediately spread the word and the first person to go to Raheja Hospital was Royce D'silva a fellow Stanislite.

John Nilankil of Holy Family School, Andheri worked silently and ensured that three students of Xaviertech, Mahim donated blood an hour ago. THANK YOU JOHN.

The power of the Stanislite Network

This morning I experienced the power of the Stanislite network as well as the Jesuit Network first hand.

I got a call from Teacher Anna Coreea of St. Stanislaus High School. A Stanislite Duston D'souza studying in Std. IX had undergone his second sitting of chemo-therapy at Raheja Hospital Mahim. He is being treated for leukemia at the hospital. His platelet count had dropped and he urgently need blood transfusion before 3.30pm.

Stanislite Monsoon Trekking

Today was the last of the Summer swims for Stanislites organized by SSESA at the St. Stanislaus pool. It was great meeting with so many Stanislites of different backgrounds and age groups.

The surprise today was meeting with a largish group of Class of 1993 who were having their re-union for the Mumbai based guys. Of course before the fun began they made a trip to St. Stanislaus. Unlucky for them being a Sunday they could not get a "Stanislaus Darshan".
