Remembering our beloved….Mel Rod

MELVILLE SYDNEY RODRICKS, affectionately known to family and friends as “MelRod” served as Vice President of St. Stanislaus Ex-students Association (SSESA). He always worked in the background and ensured things got done.

Mel Rod transitioned peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 19th 2025. He was 85 years old. The funeral service and burial was held on Saturday 22nd November 2025 at St. Andrews Church, Bandra

He joins his beloved “dah”ling wife, the late May Rodricks (nee Coutinho), and his late parents, John and Mildred, and late in-laws, Lucy and John Coutinho.


He is the proud father to Dhilon (Odessa) of Vancouver, Dirk (Abdo) of Boston/Toronto, and to his fierce guardian, Rhea of (Bandra) Mumbai; cherished “Grandpa Mel” to Arielle and Cole (Dhilon and Odessa) and “Gran’pawpaa” to Dama and Oscar (Dirk and Abdo)

Devoted brother to Connie (late Clifford) of Toronto, Merlyn of (Versova) Mumbai, the late Hector (late Joan) of Pune/Abu Dhabi, and Archie (Chrysle) of Melbourne/Singapore, and
brother-in-law of Mabel (Willie) of (Pallava/Versova) Mumbai, Hazel (late James) of Auckland/Doha, Eva (Joe) of Auckland, and late Gladys (late Richard) of (Vasai) Mumbai.

He will always be “Uncle Mel” to many nieces and nephews, and countless others in the community who encountered him through his over five decades of service and stewardship to St. Andrew’s Parish via the Andrean Cultural and Recreation Centre (ACRC) including the Andrean Fairs and Zonal Talent Contests, and logistical coordination of school ground services, as well as his involvement with the St. Stanislaus’ Ex-Students’ Association.
