REPORT ON APTITUDE AND CAREER GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING
The aptitude & career guidance and counseling session was successfully completed this academic year 2006 -2007 on the 11.03.07 with about 213 student appearing and making the best use of the counseling session. This is a mile stone in itself since we have now completed 5 years in this project.
The career counseling by Broadway led by Mr.R.L.Karandikar and his team of 12 counselors, the management of the school and the Managing committee of the association held this year pre test talk on 17.02.07 followed by the Aptitude test on 18.02.07 , for those who could not make it on 18.02.07 the test were held on 25.02.07 .
Subsequently the counseling session were held on 04.03.07 despite being the festival of color parents and student turned out in large numbers and took and active part in these sessions. For those who could not make a separate counseling session was held on 11.03.07.
We are in receipt of the final Bell Adjustment report and its disheartening to learn that the problem at home, social problems and emotionally disturbed cases still exist. The problem on the health front has been on the increase The Managing committee has decided that some remedial action need to be taken and therefore with the help of Dr.Yoland Pereira an authority on Parent Child relationship talks will be held in 2007 – 2008.
With the networking of our association a lot of our ex- students who have excelled in their sphere of life have gladly consented to delivery talks to our boys which are accordingly being planned

OBJECTIVE :
Teachers are an important part of our career guidance programme. To help them play their role in the guidance programme effectively the activities of the first of the tree modules were organized . The objective of the first module were:
METHODOLOGY :
Aim: To expose Class IX students of St. Stanislaus to a career in Architecture, Interior Design and Landscaping.
The years first Career Guidance seminar was held on November 27th, 2007. This is the first in a series of talks planned during the second term of this academic year and the first term of the next academic year for the boys of standard IX.
The carefully design power point presentation held the boys spell bound for over an hour. While making this presentation Conrad Gonsalves brought out very vividly the need for a sound built environment one of the three basic needs of every human being Roti, Kapda and Makan. While limiting himself to the third need - Makan wherein he stress the need for a good shelter being part of the built environment. Development of town ships, Town planning, office planning – exteriors and Interiors etc was dwelt upon. Conrad finally summed up by giving the boys the basic criteria required for perusing this career and the colleges available, entrance tests etc.
FACULTY PROFILE:
NAME: CONRAD GONSALVES
An Ex- student of the 1967 batch,
Conrad is a Science graduate from St. Xavier’s College – Mumbai.
He later completed his post graduation in Architecture from the L.S.
Raheja’s College – Bandra (Bandra School of Arts). He owns a very
profitable enterprise ´Gonsalves and Associates” caters to
Architecture and Interior Designing. He is the past President of the
Institute of Interior Designing and the past President of the Jesuit
Alumini. He has conducted many workshops in the country and in Taiwan
& Thailand.
Aim: To expose Class IX students of St. Stanislaus to a career in the Merchant Navy.
The second career talk of the year was held on December 3rd, 2007.
The very well design and illustrative power point presentation arouse a lot of interest not only among the boys but also the teachers The presentation lasted an hour. While making this presentation Capt. Melvin Pais explained the difference between the Merchant Navy and the Indian Navy, a Warship and a Merchant ship , the type of Merchant ship – like – Dry Cargo , Liquid Cargo , Gas Carriers , Car carriers, etc. He also dwelled on passenger liners & cruise liners.
With the ever increasing demand in the Oil and Gas sectors Capt. Pais explained with illustrations the various ships used in this industry like Suuply boat , Drill ship ,FPSO , and DSV’s.
Capt Pais later explained the various department on the ship , the career growth plan and prospects with the time frame and the remuration attached to this.He also gave the boys the names of the various training Institutes in the country , their websites and Magazine related to the industry . Capt Pais was also supported by another Ex- Stanislite Capt. Peter Saldanha .
Faculty Profile:
NAME: Capt. Melvin Pais
An alumni of the 1958 batch, Capt. Pais completed his Masters in Marine Engineering ( Foreign Going ) on board Training Ship – T.S.Dufferin ( 1927 – 1972 ) in Mumbai .
He has a total experience of 33 Years at Sea with the best names in the shipping Industry on various types of vessel . Capt. Pais is also honoured by being a Member of the Institute of Chartered Ship brokers – London.
Capt Mel is presently employed as a Professor at the T.S. Chanakya at New Mumbai . Many Stanislites are now trained by him. Capt Pais has also served on the SSESA Managing Committee from time to time and has taken an active part in the various SSESA activities.
A career in the Armed Forces

The Career Guidance program conducted by St. Stanislaus Ex-students Association is an ongoing program for students of Class IX and X of St. Stanislaus High School.
The talk held on January 3rd ,2008 was conducted by Major L.G. Fonseca (Retired) and focused on a career in the Indian Armed forces. The program was held in the school hall and around 400 boys from Std IX and X attended along with their Class teachers and the School Principal.
The program commenced with a Power Point presentation that emphasised the basic academic and physical requirements for a career in the armed forces. This was followed by a multimedia presentation that highlighted life at the National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla near Pune. After the presentation there was a question and answer session with the boys.
Dr. Yoland Pereira completed her doctorate from the University of London in 1990.
She is a permanent lecturer at the St. Pius Seminary at Goregaon and a guest lecturer at the Goa seminary. She is on the board of the Confederation of the CBCI as a consultant and resource person. She is actively involved in training personnel in the field of education and counseling. She practices at the archdiocese center at Snehalaya and the Parish Centre at Mount Carmel.
Dr. Pereira has been associated with the career counseling organized and conducted by St. Stanislaus Ex-students Association for students of Class IX and X of St. Stanislaus High School.
Mr. Karindikar has completed his MA and B.Ed. from
Mumbai University. He has also completed his
diploma in vocational guidance conducted by the Govt. of Maharashtra. He has authored 25 work books in English, History and Geography.
Mr. Karindikar has actively co-ordinated the vocational guidance programs in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Assam for the past 25 years. He is the
President of the Maharashtra shikshan vesvastia
marg darshan sangathana.
Mr. Karindikar conducts the Career counseling program for SSESA for the boys of Std. IX and X of the school. He plans, tests and evaluates each boy from these classes and makes recommendations
based on these tests.
